Holodeck

Deck 6 & 7 - Deck 14 & 15

Holodeck

Holotechnology serves a variety of purposes, from training to technical simulations, recreation and more. They are also an important and recognized factor in alleviating crew stress in the interval between shoreleaves.

Additionnally, holodecks are used by teachers as an educational tool to expose students to a variety of experiences.

Holodeck 1 and 2 are two-storeyed facilities, located on decks 6 and 7. They are best suited for activities involving a bulky holoprogram and/or medium to large groups.

The 10 holosuites on deck 14 and 15 serve for individuals and small groups taking part in medium-sized holoprograms. Holosuites ensure that all can benefit from this type of recreation on a regular basis.

Holodeck functions

The holodeck uses a mix of matter/energy conversion, holographic projectors and force field projectors to create a vivid illusion (scenery, characters) affecting all physical senses.

Depending on the holoprogram or user's requests, some items (objects, foodstuffs) are replicated. Replicated items can be taken out of the holodeck, others cannot.

Holoprogramming

Holodecks are not all about technology.

While basic programs or modifications can be implemented on the go by vocal commands or through the arch (user interface), the holonovelist or holoprogrammer will find it much more handy to use the holoprogramming suite.

The suite offers a full interface allowing one to pick from extensive databases. A whole range of items, processes and subroutines is available to create attractive settings and detailed scenarios.

Thanks to the holoemitters embedded in the surrounding walls, each element can be visualized and fine-tuned.
