Personal History:

            Harris is the youngest son of the prominent London physician William Leeds.  Harry, to his friends, never doubted that he would follow in his father’s footsteps and become a physician also.  As such Harris spent most of his time in grade school studying in the library.  His classmates thought of him as something of a recluse until he graduated as Valedictorian.
            His grades were more than enough to earn him a position at an esteemed Medical College in London.  Harris studied hard but found the course work much tougher than he expected.  So once again he became a hermit and spent his waking hours in the college’s library studying.  Though his hard work he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. 
            Upon completion of Medical School Harris was bored with London and decided that he wanted to see something of the Universe.  While walking through Piccadilly Circus one day he happened upon a recruiting poster for Starfleet and decided to apply.  Once again Harris found himself in school as four years of Starfleet Academy began.  He found the going easier than medical school and a bit of a refresher. 
            His graduation from the Academy netted him a commission as an Ensign and a posting to the Excelsior Class USS Repulse.  Things went smoothly for Harris and he became known as one of the better ship board doctors.  The crew came to respect him quickly and Harris had many friends. 
            The Dominion War changed many things and Harris was no different than many others.  The Repulse saw heavy action and Harris watched as many of his shipmates were killed or forever maimed.  Then came the nightmare that was the 2nd Battle of Chin’toka.  The Breen paralyzed the Repulse with their crippling weapons and as the Repulse lay helpless the Dominion Forces pounded her out of existence. 
            Harris was pushed into an escape pod and avoided going “down with the ship”.  However his escape pod was captured by a Cardassian warship and Harris became a Prisoner of War.  The Cardassians were ruthless and tortured him to within inches of his life.  It was a dark period of his life that he has yet to come to grips with.   Fortunately for Harris the end of the war was near and the Battle for Cardassia saw his liberation. 
            Upon repatriation Harris was assigned to the USS Swiftsure as its Chief Medical Officer.  He has slowly rebuilt himself, but covers his emotional scars with a strong whimsical front.  He suffers from nightmares that make him relive his captivity and has not been able to bring himself to discuss them.
