Personal History:
Jesse was the second and youngest child of Leslie and Shane Wilber, born in South Charleston at the local community hospital. Born five years after his older brother, Jon, he constantly looked up to his older brother as a form of inspiration. His parents were of little consequence in his formative years, as it was Jon who truly gave Jesse a sense of direction and purpose. While watching Jon attend college at the University of Southern California and prepare himself for entering Starfleet, Jesse had the urge to follow a similar path. However, Jesse did not have the brains of Jon, and preferred the idea of entering Academy operating for a lower caste of officer training: Security. It was not his true love--he found helping others rewarding, and security a halfhearted measure of expressing this-- and would have much preferred a medical entrance, specifically suited at counseling. However, in his first year at Academy, the friends he met taunted him for wanting to choose a 'womanly' (or worse, Betazed) profession at Starfleet; he remained with Security begrudgingly. Graduating along with his older brother, Jesse felt hardly ready for the burden of being an officer, especially realizing Jon had gone to an Engineering Upper-school for Engineering before switching to CONN, and even then attending the Advanced Combat Pilot Academy. Jesse chose to remain around Starbase 153, and choose a posting as a mediocre Security Officer on the USS Telesto. However, within six months, Jesse found no love of the job, and wanted out. While discussing his misfortune with the Ship's (Betazed and female) Counselor, she suggested he return to Academy to learn what he really wanted, and Jesse jumped at the officer. Having nearly secluded himself from all others, the young man spent a handful of months catching up on courses required to enable him to be a counselor, earning a promotion in Academy along the way. Feeling empowered with his new rank and abilities, Jesse requested a transfer elsewhere in Tango Fleet, and found an opportunity serving on the USS Swiftsure.
